What is a Heat Pump?
A heat pump is a fridge or a freezer working backwards. Think about your fridge (or your freezer) at home, when the fridge is running the inside of the fridge is cold, yet feel the back of the fridge and it’s warm. That’s because the refrigeration process that’s taking place is removing the heat from within the fridge and moving it to the space outside of the fridge.
A heat pump is the same, it uses a refrigeration process to move heat from the outside air (if it’s an air source heat pump) or from the ground outside (if it’s a ground source heat pump) and then transfers that heat into the water which goes around your radiators or underfloor heating system.
Benefits of a Heat Pump
Heat pumps offer many benefits including:

Lower running costs than LPG, Oil and direct electric heating
No gas supply required, so no standing charge
Can heat your home and provide hot water
